Double Absences

Art, design and photography commencement exhibition
April 15 to May 3, Sargent Art Building

The annual Art, Design and Photography Commencement Exhibition will be in the Sargent Art Building from Monday, April 15, through Friday, May 3.

The categories in the contest include 2-D and 3-D studio art; graphic design; apparel, textile and design; interior design and photography. Chairman of the Division of Art and Design, Mr. Jay Bopp, said that although any student may enter an art or photography piece, not everyone’s work will be displayed in the exhibition. Photography faculty member in the Division of Communication Mrs. Rebekah Mininger said 139 photographs were submitted last year, and 50 were chosen to be displayed in the exhibit.

After the initial jurying, art and photography faculty members will choose the winners in each category. Bopp said first-place winners in each category will receive a medal that they can wear at their graduation.

Summer and fall semester music auditions
Tuesday and Thursday, 5 p.m.

Students interested in music lessons or current choir members wanting to participate in choir next semester need to audition Tuesday, April 16, or Thursday, April 18, between 5 p.m. and 5:45 p.m. Students who are not currently in a choir should audition during next semester’s registration period. For information about instrumental group auditions, students should contact the department head or program director associated with the group. A list of audition locations can be found on page 51 of the registration guide.

Before auditioning for music lessons for the first time, students who are non-music majors or minors need to complete the Music Qualifying Test.

Students can find more information on audition requirements at the Division of Music’s webpage on BJU’s website.
